On the mend

A: How's your wound?
B: "It's healing up pretty good" / "I'm on the mend"

Hi everybody! Are both of the answers of B's suitable in this situation?

Thanks a lot!

Both responses sound natural, however, if A was a smart-ass, he might correct B's first answer to "...healing up pretty well" A's question doesn't sound quite as natural. You might hear that from a doctor, but from a friend it would more likely be "How's your finger/leg/eye?" or "How's that cut/bruise/sprain?"
