Mickey the Dunce

I'd like to post a bunch of phrases and words that my father uses to try to find their origins. My father was born in the 20's in Cambridge, Mass. The most frequent occurances of these phrases seem to come from fellow Cantabs.

"Mickey the Dunce" is probably the easiest thing to understand that my father says. I believe it was at one time a derogatory term for irishmen, but it seems to be used so often now in mainstream media that it's lost it's pejorative sense.
eg
"Don't play Mickey the Dunce with me. You were miz-a-blizzing when I walked in."
"He knew what I was talking about before you came in and now he's plaing Mickey the Dunce with me.
