Painful. I'm not really sure, but perhaps stiletto? Or are you referring to the laces?

I'm not sure what the high heels are called but we referred to sandals that laced part-way up the calf as "Roman sandals" or "Greek sandals".

That heel is a "stiletto heel". Some are even thinner than these.
