What do you call the irresistable urge to pop the bubbles in bubble wrap? Or the city slicker who dresses in moleskins and an Akubra hat? And what about the group of smokers clustered around the entrance to an office building?
.. so what can any self-respecting dagster do ?? .. Richard Glover, journalist with the Sydney Morning Herald and radio announcer on ABC national radio, had the answer .. he would find these lost words .. or he would create them !! .. he observes that ..
Creating new words involves a fair bit of noise - swearing, stomping about, rhyming, punning, drinking heavily and other unattractive behaviour.
.. oh and those words ?? .. bubblewrapture, hinterloper, and fumimates .. and over the next several weeks, just for the sheer amusement of it all, I'm going to list a few for discussion ..
