Out of the Flames by Lawrence and Nancy Goldstone. Historically accurate, but reads like a mystery novel.

I thought they wrote exclusively about book collecting. Does this book have books as its subject? I enjoyed their other books, so I'm curious.

I'm new to these parts, so first off I'd like to say hello.

I've read Out of the Flames and I agree that it is a good read. It's about Michael Servetus the 16th century polymath who wrote, among other things, a theological work that earned him the title of heretic and a roasty toasty death. The church attempted to burn every single copy of his book as well. Three copies survived. Out of the Flames is as much about his life as it is about the suriving copies of his book. So I can see why book collectors Lawrence and Nancy Goldstone were interested in the topic, but it is more of a biography than the tale of a rare book IMO.
