Better than one

An old lady was very upset when her husband Albert died.

A few days later, she visited the undertakers in order to spend a sentimental moment or two with her dearly departed husband before the funeral took place later that week.

The instant she saw him, she started crying. The mortician walked over to comfort her.

Through her tears, the new widow explained that she was upset because she could see her dearest Albert was wearing a black suit in the coffin, but it had been his fervent wish to be buried in a blue one.

The mortician apologized and explained that traditionally, they always dressed the men in black suits after they'd been embalmed, but he’d see what he could arrange.

The next day, with the funeral scheduled for the morrow, the woman returned to the funeral parlor to share one final private moment with Albert. When the mortician pulled back the curtain, she cracked a faint smile through her tears as she saw Albert lying there, looking both peaceful and resplendent in a smart blue suit.

“Wonderful, wonderful!" she exclaimed. "But where did you get that beautiful suit?”

“Well, yesterday afternoon after you left, a man about your husband’s size was brought in, and he was wearing a blue suit,” the mortician replied. “His wife was also quite upset, because she'd wanted him buried in the traditional black suit.”

Albert’s wife managed another wan smile at the undertaker.

“After that,” continued the latter, “it was just a matter of swapping the heads.”
