A tag line used in a communication by a friend of mine:
A lot of good arguments are spoiled by some fool who knows what he is talking about.
~Miguel de Unamuno
Miguel de Unamuno y Jugo (1864 – 1936) was a Spanish essayist, novelist, poet, playwright, philosopher, professor of Greek and Classics, and later rector at the University of Salamanca.

Nice one, Ken!
I find that plenty of good arguments nowadays are ruined by people with smartphones and access to Wikipedia.

Yeah. Sometimes I wonder why I even bother arguing with people like that. They take all the fun out of it.

Here's one I found on a bulletin board at Colorado State University:
People who think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do.

That reminds me of this:
"Everyone today is so busy thinking only of themselves. I'm the only one who's thinking about me!"

Both quotes appeared in
The Week on January 13, 2017:
It's obvious that women are smarter than men. Think about it — diamonds are a girls best friend; man's best friend is a dog.
.
On a more serious note here is a very fine quote:
If you want peace, don't talk to your friends. Talk to your enemies.

And how do you do that if nobody's allowed in your country?

Tony, I was under the impression that Twitter is the chief medium through which Mr Trump makes enemies.

The following quote is from Marshall McLuhan (1911-1980) and appeared in
The Week, March 9, 2018, page 17:
Many a good argument is ruined by some fool who knows what he is talking about.
Note: Today, McLuhan, author of
The Medium is the Message, probably would have used the phrase ‘who knows what
they are talking about.’

I think the modern version is :
Many a good argument is ruined by some fool with an internet connection.

No kidding. I remember the good old days when you could debate for hours in the pub over some minor bit of trivia or the results of a sporting event that took place twenty years before. Now, someone just pulls out their smartphone and puts the whole thing to rest in two shakes.

The following quote in Boston.com from American stand-up comedian, actor, writer, and film producer Stephen Wright (born 1955) appeared in The Week, 15 November, page 17:
<When everything is coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.>
