I saw this on the news, this morning. When I was a kid (early 60s) we only had two teleivision channels. At that time, we did not get many American programs. Most of out tv content was from the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) or the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation). I imagine this phenomenon was occuring back then, too, but the television was not used as a babysitter/teacher as much as it is now. Maybe I did speak like Bill and Ben the Flower Pot Men but there was no "social media" where our parents could discuss it with other parents.
