Google-search punctuation

Post by dalehileman » Sat Jan 07, 2006 5:33 pm

Has anybody else noticed how Google won't tell us about some of their algorithms? For instance the asterisk as a wild card. Why don't they cover things like that in "Advanced Search Tips"? I've complained bitterly to "Help Us Improve" but I'm cordially ignored

Useful tho it be, fat and happy Google thinks it's got us wired and so they can discount our suggestions. It's only a matter of time till other search engines take over, with more consideration for their participants

Also I know for sure there's a way to make it recognize punctuation, but I don't remember how it's done. And isn't there a way to make it also recognize caps as different from LC?

|Thanks guys for all present and past help with stuff like this

To my knowledge, there is no way of forcing Google to recognize punctuation or case. At all. Ever. Period.

There is a good guide to Googling (not endorsed) at http://www.googleguide.com.

Phil: I recall from somewhere that there's a way for punctuation but for the Love of God I don't remember where I read it
