For non-geeks such as I

1. How do you resurrect a thread from the archives in order to add a followup
And are there any guidelines when not to

2. How do you insert a link in a followup without using the actual title or address; often this is done with a single word, eg, This or Here

1) At present, you don't. When we first set up the forum, we decided to lock all the old material. There were several reasons for this, among others the timestamping issue you raised before. Ken is doing a sterling job clearing out the dross and editing them up to be as useful as possible, and you'll see old threads resurrected now and then as he works through them. If you ask one of us nicely by private message, we'll (probably) do it for you.

2) Do you mean like this?
