hi y'all

I'm wondering what the phrase "real life wire" means in the new Daniel Powter Song Jimmy get's high.
English is not my mother tongue so maybe this is nothing special, but believe me, I couldn't find the meaning :)

thx
Dan

Song lyrics:

Jimmy you know, everybody hates you when you're living off rock 'n roll
So you get high tonight
And Jimmy you lied, I wonder if you ever get yourself back here alive
So you get high tonight

'Cause you don't need nobody to make it on your own
You dont need nobody you'd rather be alone
So Jimmy gets high tonight
And Jimmy gets high tonight
I must confess, I'm a real live wire
Jimmy you and me we get along a while
Jimmy gets high tonight

Jimmy you lied, I'm hoping that soon maybe life it don't pass you by
So Jimmy gets high tonight
And Jimmy you know, everybody hates you when you're living off your rock 'n roll
So you get high tonight

'Cause you don't need nobody to make it on your own
You don't need nobody you'd rather be alone
So Jimmy gets high tonight
And Jimmy gets high tonight
I must confess, I'm a real life wired
Jimmy you and me we get along a while
Jimmy gets high tonight

I've been so confused
And I just hope it all gets banned to you
So Jimmy gets high tonight

I must confess, I'm a real life wired
Jimmy you and me we get along a while
So Jimmy gets high tonight

And I hope it'll be allright
Jimmy gets high tonight
And I hope it'll be allright

Jimmy you know, everybody hates you when youre living off your rock 'n roll
So you get high

I believe that it is actually "live wire" and refers to a wire which actively has electricity running through it, thus the "live".

Metaphorically speaking, a 'live wire' is someone with a very energetic, forceful or alert, and perhaps unpredictable or impulsive, personality.

Concerning the electrical connotation that Nicole has referred to, a live wire is the wire in an AC [= alternating current] circuit that carries the current; in other words, it is connected to a source of potential difference in relation to the neutral or earth wires.

ddan .. mate I googled the lyrics from the song you quoted and I found that the words should be
'Cause you don't need nobody to make it on your own
You dont need nobody you'd rather be alone
So Jimmy gets high tonight
And Jimmy gets high tonight
I must confess, I'm a real live wire
Jimmy you and me we get along a while
Jimmy gets high tonight
.. you will notice that the correct verse has the words I'm a real live wire .. it would seem that as often happens on Google a single mistake was made and it was copied over and over .. the meaning of I'm a real live wire has been explained above .. the words I'm a real life wired have no real meaning in English ..

WoZ, I googled the lyrics too, but I noticed that in all hits but a few the spelling is exactly as ddan correctly quoted above, i.e. "I'm a real live wire" in the first instance but "I'm a real life wired" in the second occurrence within the very same text. Of course the second term is just a typo, but it looks like they all just copied and pasted that flawed stuff.

I wonder how much smaller the internet would be if all the copy-and-paste merchants weren't shamelessly reproducing everybody else's material as if it was their own. (I mean, at least when we do it, we're quite open about it! :-)

Erik I have wondered about this too. My lawyer advises me (as if I could afford an attourney) that the phenom is too new and so the courts haven't come down on it yet. Technically isn't it possible that all at once one day millions upon millions of ordinary folks, corporations, writers, and bloggers will suddenly file suit against millions upon millions of others
