Dear Sirs.

My name is Nina Mikheyeva. I study at the linguistic university. Now I am working at my research paper “Recurrent units as a means of conveying actual knowledge”. So I analyze popular words in English, which reflect social events of the time and that is why they are frequently used nowadays. I’d be very much obliged to you if you helped me to understand the nature of the concepts lying behind these words better. Could you fulfill the following form:

Your Name: ______________________________________
Age: ____________________________________________
Occupation _______________________________________
Give the most popular words, in your mind, that are used today:
_________________________________________________________________

Give your associations with the following words and write down their definitions as you understand them (not from the dictionary):

E.g. community
Associations: together, society, be united.
Definition: the people living in one locality.

Thanks a lot for your participation in my project. I promise to report you the results.
Truthfully Yours, Nina.

Nina, I have a few comments about your form.

Firstly, you have submitted this posting to four different forum areas of this site. This is not very considerate of our site visitors.

Secondly, people would need to copy and paste your entire posting into theirs in order to give them a framework for their answers, which is asking rather a lot of them.

Which leads me directly to my third point, which is that your approach is flawed from a methodological point of view, since later visitors to your online questionnaire cannot help seeing, and quite probably being influenced by, the answers supplied by previous responders to it. Also, not everyone will be happy to give out even the basic personal information about themselves that you have requested in such a public space.

Would it not be preferable from every point of view if you had posted this form just once and supplied an email address to enable respondents to email it to you, or better still, if you had supplied a link to a proper online form located on a suitable website of your own?

I agree with Erik Nina. This is just not the correct forum for this questionaire. It would also be nice to know in which country your university actually is. I suggest you take Erik's advice.

I have removed this posting from all other forums, as I regard such multiple posting as an abuse of the Clubhouse. I shall discuss with the moderation team as to whether we shall retain this copy.

Having looked over the questionnaire with a great deal of interest, I think this would be better posted on a sociology site. Nina seems to be looking for subjective definitions, not etymology.
Thanks,

Dear collegues! I really appreciate your comments about my form.
Could you advise me any sites which would be more suitable for the form. For those who are interested in it I'll give my e-mail:silverstoff@yahoo.com
