Re: Spam

I like that skit but never knew that was the source for spam. Always thought it was because so many people are vocal about not liking the food Spam.

Re: In the family way

I haven't heard that phrase in ages. I had a great-aunt who used the phrase "blessed event" - I like it & use it sometimes. Otherwise I say pregnant. Don't care much for the other euphemisms I've heard.

I love it! I own donkeys, and they are very smart. All they do all day is eat and poop - and I'm the one who feeds them and shovels the poop. :)

I know the Vegemite one as well, but that's it. Disappointed by Vegemite when I had it. Far prefer Marmite, which reminds me... In the 80s, the slogan was "My mate Marmite". More recently, Marmite has used a very successful "Love it or hate it" campaign, based on the truism that the world is divide...

Same here, in spite of no lead. Funny how the posts here can lead me onto a rabbit trail of semi-useful information! Google pencil & you can travel the same rabbit trail. :)

Tinsel here. Some might call it a garland. added - I looked at the wiki for tinsel & was surprised by this: "Tinsel, is a type of decorative garland material that mimics the effect of roast turkey..." I've never thought the tinsel looked like roast turkey! Or is "roast turkey" slang for something el...

You'll wonder where the yellow went when you brush your teeth with Pepsodent. Nestle's makes the very best - chocolate. (Chocolate was drawn out.) Plop plop, fizz fizz, oh what a relief it is. And who can forget, "I can't believe I ate the whole thing." Both Alka-Seltzer. What crazy things we rememb...

Re: Chest of drawers

China cabinet or armoire - depending on what's in it. I guess you're right...you can't get to Narnia through a China cabinet But that was a wardrobe - same idea with solid door(s). Totally impractical in modern small houses - I know because I have one. Or should I say one of each - wardrobe and sma...
